INSULATION / HOUSE WRAP
BATT Insulation - Batt insulation is made of mineral fiber -- either processed fiberglass or rock wool -- and is used to insulate below floors, above ceilings, and within walls. Generally, batt insulation is the least expensive wall insulation material, but requires careful installation for effective performance.
This type of insulation is best suited to a standard joist, rafter, or stud spacing of 16 or 24 in. Batts come in widths to fit securely between the wood-framing members. Some come with a radiant barrier backing. Batts generally come in lengths of 4 or 8 ft.
Codebord - CodeBord is a rigid foam insulation that is installed on the exterior of 2x4 or 2x6 wood stud walls. It has a thermal resistance of R-5 per inch of thickness that blankets the exterior frame, reducing heat loss through the stud walls and saving money on energy bills. CodeBord is lightweight, yet strong and easy to handle and trim. Installation is faster because the shiplap joints eliminate the need for sheathing paper or for taping the joints.
PlastiSpan PlastiSpan insulation is a moulded expanded polystyrene (EPS) insulation. The rigid closed cell structure assures long lasting thermal insulation properties. PlastiSpan insulation is suitable and recommended for use as the insulation component in floor, wall and roof systems above or below grade.
STYROFOAM Cladmate - STYROFOAM Cladmate extruded polystyrene insulation is designed for use in walls and atics of new and retrofit applications. It reduces thermal bridging by insulating the entire wall including the wood studs. This decreases the potential for condensation within the wall cavity that can lead to moisture problems in the walls. The sheets (over .5) have shiplapped edges that reduce air infiltration. STYROFOAM Cladmate extruded polystyrene insulation meets the 1995 National Buidling Codes air permeance properties that make it suitable for use as an air barrier material.
STYROFOAM SM STYROFOAM SM extruded polystyrene insulation, with its high compressive strength and moisture resistance, is recommended for use in below-grade applications, such as foundation or slab insulation, and ceiling applications.
Typar - Typar acts like a windbreaker and wrapped over the sheathing and under the exterior sidingcut out around windows and doors and taped securely at the seamsresists air infiltration and water intrusion and makes for a more comfortable, energy-efficient home or building.
Tyvek Tyvek acts like a windbreaker and wrapped over the sheathing and under the exterior sidingcut out around windows and doors and taped securely at the seamsresists air infiltration and water intrusion and makes for a more comfortable, energy-efficient home or building.
