ENGINEERED WOOD PRODUCTS

Glued Laminated Wood - Glued laminated wood is made by bonding 3/4 in. thick wood strips for curved members and 1 1/2 in. thick wood strips for straight members to form a beam or column. These are commonly called Glulam members.

IBS 2000 Bridging � The �IBS 2000�� floor bridging system is a Simple Cross (SC) manufactured with two 38 x 64 mm SPF#2 cross members fastened to 19-mm-thick Douglas Fir plywood ends. The plywood sides, 100 mm x 185, 235 or 285 mm deep, are nailed to the adjacent joists with two rows of five, 57 mm x 2.8 mm diameter nails. The bridging units are available for joist spacings of 12 & 16 in. O.C. The �IBS 2000�� floor bridging system is intended for �dry service� use in residential and commercial construction as an alternative bridging system to conventional wood cross-bridging and/or wood strapping.

I Joist � Prefabricated structurally engineered wood joists are designed for residential and light commercial construction. Lightweight, straight and available in lengths of up to 48 feet, they are the ideal choice for quality conscious builders. The "I" configuration provides high bending strength and stiffness, allowing for greater spans than is possible with solid lumber joists. These are made with solid lumber flanges and a composite wood core. Some are made with LVL flanges.

Laminated Veneer Lumber (LVL) � LVL is a manufactured structural member made by bonding wood veneers with an exterior adhesive. It has almost no shrinking, checking, twisting, or splitting. It has more load-bearing capacity per pound than sawed lumber. It has a modulus of elasticity of about 2.0 and an allowable bending stress of 3100 psi. It is available in depths from 7 1/4 to 18 in. and thicknesses of 1 1/2 and 1 3/4 in.

Oriented Strand Board (OSB) � Oriented Strand Board is manufactured from strands oriented in different directions. These layers of oriented strands are bonded together at right angles to each other. Usually three to five layers are bonded to form a panel. Most OSB panels are textured on one side to produce a nonstick surface.

Argo Lumber stocks standard nominal thicknesses of panels from 1/4 in. to � in., which are 48in. x 96 in. Argo also has stock of � and 5/8 OSB T&G floor sheathing.

Parallel Strand Lumber (PSL) � Parallam structural products include beams, headers, posts, and columns. They are made from Douglas fir or southern pine.

RimBoard � OSB or wood perimeter board provides lateral restraint to I Joists, transfers load from load bearing wall above as well as lateral load from shear wall and floor diaphragm above to support structure below.
